Similarities And Differences Between Plant Cells And Animal Cells
There are numerous similarities and differences between plant and animal cells. To start off, both the plant and animal cell have a nucleus and chromosomes. They both have a vacuole, however the animal cell can have 1 or more vacuoles which are much smaller than the one plant cells have and plant cells have one main vacuole which covers more than 90% of the volume. Both the plant cell and animal cells have a cytoplasm, an endoplasmic reticulum, ribosomes, mitochondria, and Golgi apparatus. The animal cell has a cell membrane while the plant cell has a cell membrane and a cell wall. An animal cell does not have a cell wall. The flagella could be found in some of the plant cells and animal cells. Their usually are not any lysosomes in the plant cell, however lysosomes occur in the cytoplasm for animal cells. It is very rare to have cilia in a plant cell, however there are cilia in an animal cell. Plant cells have chloroplasts and animal cells do not. This is because animal cells do not make their own food like plant cells. Finally, while the animal cell is a round irregular shape, the plant cell is more of a rectangular shape. All in all, both the plant and animal cell are unique in their own ways have their own similarities and differences.
